Piyush Mathur is an award-winning artist who today lives and works in New Delhi, India. The universe has always been a source of wonder to him and, through his masterful strokes of colour, he explores the enigmatic and transcendent nature of the cosmos.
“Painting is beyond being a passion or profession to me. It is almost like meditation where in a way you become oblivious to worldly pulls,” he says. Driven by his search for new and innovative approaches, he believes that through observation, everything becomes more alive – be it a person, an act, or the lights and shapes of nature. Finding beauty and inspiration from surroundings and people around him, he believes that being an artist means to re-create life’s hues and expressions as you see and envisage it.
His passion for arts started at an early age and continued being his calling throughout the years. For almost two decades now, Piyush has been inviting you into his inner realm by means of his canvas. Working mostly on figurative and semi-abstract paintings in acrylics nowadays, his palette alternates between bright and dark colours, contrasted aggressively to create masterpieces on canvas that continue to leave a lasting warmth on the walls of collectors. His works have been exhibited in various galleries and exhibitions.
